Cissie was such a special lady and she will be fondly remembered by us all who each have special memories of her. She was my inspiration!

Cissie (aka Chris) was a devoted and caring mother of 4, a grandmother of 10 and great-grandmother of 8.

She was always had a mischievous smile and wink for us all and especially enjoyed a dance and always loved to join in with us if we were having a bop about the room. She also liked to attend the occasional dinner dance or go along to the local social club with her daughter Bonnie and son-in-law, Terry (my wonderful mum and dad) if she was staying over there for the weekend. They always made sure she was included in any evening occasions they had to attend.

She was always happiest when she was surrounded by her large family and loved spending loads of good times with us all no matter where we were and especially christmas - we all took it in turns each year to have nan spend it with us once she lost poppa, but no one to this day can beat her roast dinners - she was a legendary cook and wine maker.

Nan was also extremely good at art and knitting and loved to show off her masterpieces to us all and was very proud of her achievements. Some of us have even inherited her talents as the years have gone by!

My personal fondest memories was that I used to go and spend most weekends with her and my beloved 'poppa' when i was a child. Sadly my 'poppa' died very suddenly in his sleep on Easter Sunday back in 1977 at the age of 62. Nan missed him so much and so she had to learn to carry on without him and took up her artistic activities to occupy herself and even took two trips to Australia to visit her son Kelvin, one alone and one with her other son Mike and her daughter-in-law Beryl. She also always kept a yearly diary once poppa had died so her memoirs will always be with us on paper and we will cherish them forever and will make us smile!

Originally from Chiswick, West London and then of Yateley, Hampshire, after living alone for many years, in 2006 she had to be moved down to Devon to live with my lovely Auntie Karen as she had succumbed to Dementia and wasnt able to lead a normal life anymore. My aunt alongside her husband Michael, devoted so much time to her well-being in their own home for 6 months but then finally due to the demanding 24 hour care she needed, they had to reluctantly have her moved into a local care home nearby in Dawlish where my aunt would still continuously visit her and reassure her. Sadly a year or so after this final move into the home, her health deteriorated quite rapidly after that as she was not happy anymore and she sadly passed away in her sleep in hospital shortly after being admitted due to a short illness. That was the time we all knew deep down that Nan was ready to go and finally be with her Sid (poppa). She is now back alongside him after 31 long years dancing in his arms once again!

Nan your spirit will live on in our hearts forever and you leave behind a loving and very close family! Each and every one of us will have special individual memories of you to last a lifetime!!

Even though it was your funeral that made us all come together again, it has made us all realise just how short life really is and we have all vowed to stay in touch much much more than before - it was your legacy that we all do that for you!

God Bless You and rest peacefully with the angels for all eternity until we all meet again xxxxx

This verse is especially for you Nan:

"In my dreams i'll always see you soar above the sky...
In my heart there'll always be a place for you..for all my life...
I'll keep a part of you with me and everywhere i am...there'll you'll be..." xxx

Nanna Appy

Nana
You gave us all so much love, fun and laughter over the years and i couldnt have wished for a better Nana.
I know you will be happy now that you are finally back with Poppa after 31 years apart. Your spirit will live on in all of us and we will miss you more than you could know. All of us being together to remember you and celebrate your life with us brought back so many fond memories for me of being a little girl and all the fun days we spent with you and poppa, things ive not thought of for years that made me smile and remember the love you both gave us all.
I'll cherish those memories forever just like i'll love you forever, you always had a sparkle in your eye and a mischievious little grin and that's how i'll always remember you.
You may be gone from our lives but you will never ever be gone from our hearts and thoughts xx
As Sarah said we'll all be together again one day over the rainbow...
Your loving granddaughter Leigh xxxxxx
Poppa will look after you now Nana and i know you are both looking after us all and smiling down upon us xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
